Week 1 : My Thoughts
Though excited and enthusiastic, I started this course being fearful of whether I would be able to cope with ALL the technology I would have to deal with and use. But I am happy to say that I am learning with 19 educationists who seem to be very skilled at using technology and these 19 teachers come across as very learned people; all professional in their own right.
When I read their posts on Nicenet, I realised that this is an awesome group but I wish they had given a little more information on where they are from. I am thrilled to be learning alongside them though a part of me is a trifle frightened that I will not be able to keep up with them. Time will tell, I suppose...
So far I have enjoyed Nicenet; a tool I would love to use with my teenage-students. In fact I have emailed nicenet.org to request for permission to use it with my English Language classes ~ spesifically to instill a love for the writing skill. Presently we are using FROG ASIA in my school and I find it user unfriendly with the many widgets. Nicenet is so much easier to handle, so I hope to hear from nicenet.org soon.
BUT this blogging thing is making me insecure...am I doing the right thing? Well, I will just wait for Donna's comments to see if I am on the right track. She comes across as a very warm and friendly person; and most importantly as someone who is not judgemental. So I will just have to be bold enough to ask even if the questions may seem silly...
Bye...till next week.

Hello Pamela,
ReplyDeleteYou are doing this blogging thing perfectly! Your blog is wonderful and you've added your blog to our Blog Roll perfectly.
One thing . . . you can use Nicenet without permission. All you have to do is to login to Nicenet and click on Create in the box on the right. You'll go through a few steps to create your own Nicenet site, and Nicenet will give you the class key to share with your students. They join a class using the key.
If you have any questions about Nicenet and using it with your students, please let me know.
Donna
Hi Pam and Donna,
ReplyDeleteNice meeting you here Pam. I share your "fear" too. I can relate to what you were trying to say here and thank you for being in the learned group too.
I am very happy to learn from Donna's comment that we can use nicenet without permission. I will really try it. Thanks a lot Donna.
Hope to know more about you and to learn from you a lot more.
Hi Sonia,
DeleteNice meeting you too. I read your detailed description of your class from your post ~ you do teach some interesting students.
Do let me know when you have used Nicenet with your students~ maybe we can compare and share the experience?
Pamela
HI pamella,
ReplyDeleteNamaskar, When I first saw your introduction in discussion task, since, then, I have found you the source of inspiration. The most appreciable part is your perseverance and relentless effort to grow as a fine teacher. Though you have been teaching for last 25 years (nearly my entire age), I could see in your words that you are rejuvenating each moment. I must have my hat off for your enthusiasm and zeal in teaching;the most sacred and revered profession.
I really appreciate your flow of language and diction choice. I wish I could write like yours.
Sitaram
Dear Sitaram,
ReplyDeleteYour are good for my ego. Thank you for the praise but I must say I owe the praise to all the students I have met and taught. I not only teach them, I also learn from them. I have also been very blessed to have met many teachers who have been willing to share and care. Teaching, sometimes, can be exhausting and frustrating. Having some experienced shoulders to cry on, help make life bearable.
When you reach my golden age of 49, I am sure you will have much to share too.
As for language, you are good as well and you do write well. Never under-estimate yourself. Tap on your potential~ it is within your reach.
Take care, hope to hear from you soon.
Pamela
